I hate those messages, there should really be an option to toggle them off.

That message is so retarded and it never stops!

My messages while I was playing last night

You have been playing for 1 hour
You have been playing for 2 hours. Time to take a break.
You have been playing for 3 hours. Time to take a break.
You have been playing for 4 hours. Time to take a break.
You have been playing for 5 hours. Time to take a break.
You have been playing for 6 hours. Time to take a break.

You would think they would give up hopes on getting me to log off after the first 5 messages, lol.

I see a new guild wars record coming in the future, like the guy with 1 million deaths.

6 months after factions release:
You have been playing for 4,272 hours. Time to buy chapter 3.

Understood, but as a responsible adult, I don't need someone to tell me when to take a potty break. The messages don't bother me, but I think it's an odd feature that we should be able to turn off.

Precisely. I'd like to think that maybe people aren't so stupid as to need this reminder. Maybe they do...but the fact remains I'd like to avoid being reminded of this while playing my fantasy game. This is where I go to FORGET that the surrounding universe is full of retards.

On second thought...nevermind. Have you met 80% of the player base lately?

We should still be able to turn the damn things off though.

It is just a safety measure. I don't think Anet cares if you read the message or not. When someone died while playing GW for to long, Anet can always say "I told you so!"

Ok ok, so I like playing my Guild Wars. Sure I may be logged in, but I go afk and just leave the game running.

Imagine my surprise when I came back and saw this...

That ... is funny!

Of course you know, like casey said: there will be someone doing something similar to the /deaths to see who can play on one character the longest, just to see if it says something to you ... which, of course, completely defeats the purpose of the message to begin with

This message is going to have the opposite of the desired effect on some people.

'What does 50 hours say?'
how bout 75?
OMG omg almost a message at 100.

=X

Maybe a little reverse-psycology here.

Exactly. For those of us who don't get annoyed by it, it will be a motivation to stay online as long as possible just to see what other suggestions it makes to you after 50 hours, 100 hours, etc. Was the "please get a life" message at 18 hours a photoshop?

I have an idea for fun, since it wants you to take a break, tell the game what you are doing every single time you get up for a minute. May cause some problems if you are using the all channel in town or announcing such things while you are in a group doing a mission, but for those of us who solo frequently or use nothing but henches...

You have been playing for 3 hours. Please take a break.
Your Character: Thanks GW timebot! I'm gonna make a sandwich now.
Your Character: ok back
Stone Summit Gnasher drops a grim cesta, which your party reserves for Your Character.
Your Character: Hey GW timebot, I'm thirsty. I'll be right back.
Your Character: ok back
You have been playing for 4 hours. Please take a break.
Your Character: You don't listen very well, GW timebot.
Your party shares 102 gold coins.

I like getting to bother the game as much as it gets to bother me

Hi

yeah might work if it took account fo when you took breaks and stuff.

My guild went on a trip to UW last night, after clearing the smites we decided to have a ten minute break for drinks/loo etc. % minutes after coming back, we all got the message: You have been playing for hours please take a break.

Then again i think my guild are gonna lynch me soon cos i say, wow ive been playing x hours evytime it comes up :O

And if it really does say that after 18 hours i will laugh my head off
